My Weekend

I had such a great weekend! It started off with a nice dinner and after work drinks on friday then a fun day trip with my partner and my mum and dad yesterday, and today, I spent the day playing with the dog and enjoying the sunshine in the garden.

Here are some of the interesting things I saw and bought on my day trip to Edinburgh and North Berwick yesterday:-

This vintage leather bucket bag has to be my best bargain for 2012 so far as I got it for only £1......YES £1!!!!!! in a charity shop in Portobello, Edinburgh, I love a good bargain.

In the lovely seaside town of North Berwick is one of my fave little boutiques called "Madame Butterfly". A visit to Madame Butterfly for me, is like a treasure hunt. The boutique is packed full of beautiful interiors and accessories for your home and also dotted around, you will find some gorgeous clothing accessories, vintage pieces and jewels.
I often pick up either some vintage pieces or something for my house when I visit as I love to get something special and something that I wouldn't find back in Glasgow.
My last visit was a few months back and I remember falling in love with a cape that the stylish owner was wearing, although to my dissapointment the cape was something she had picked up on her travels so wasn't available to buy :-(
Yesterday, on my visit to the boutique I was delighted to see the owner had picked up a couple of the beautiful capes on her travels to sell in the store!! After trying both capes on, I opted for the cape with the lovely browns, greens and gold tones as opposed to the lighter blue and cream shade cape which didn't seem to compliment my dark hair, dark eyes colourings as much. The cape was bought in Oman and is made from a silk-cashmere mix with a faux-fur collar trim and faux-fur trim baubles and it is just stunning on. It's the perfect accessory that will keep me warm in the colder days and keep my skin cool in the summer sun. Apart from seeing the owner wearing her cape, I haven't yet seen anyone wearing this so it makes me love it all the more.

.............So much for not buying anything and saving for London next month!!

As well as my fashion, I love cars, especially vintage cars so when I saw this car, I had to get a few pictures! The vintage car is a Jowett, and the only reason I know this is that the owners had displayed this interesting notice about the car!

All in all, with good company, the first day of sunshine and warmer weather for 2012, nice places to visit, and a finding few lovely accessories to add to my collection, I had a great weekend!

Glasgow Gets ready for Christmas

YSL Gold pumps......just gorgeous!

My daily walk to and from the train station for work each day is so much more enjoyable when I get to walk by all the stores getting ready for christmas! I love to see the twinkly lights, gorgeous green christmas trees and most of all I get to gaze into the pretty window displays.

The thing that caught my eye this-morning was a pait of stunning gold Yves Saint Laurent shoes hanging from the window display of Cruise Clothing, ahhh!

I was also happy to see a Vintage Pop up store has opened up around from George Square in Glasgow. The store is called "We love to boogie Vintage" and will be around until New Year's eve. I had a quick look in at lunchtime and although it's not jam packed full of stock like Mr Ben's Vintage at St Enoch's, Glasgow, there is still some pretty cool finds so worth a look!

On the subject of shopping, I was in Zara the other day and they have lots of stunning things in store just now. I treated myself to a few pretty things to wear during the festive season but on the whole i'm trying to be good and to save my shopping spree for when I'm in London for a few days in the next few weeks (I always think you find different things in London from in Glasgow)!

Happy Christmas Shopping everyone!

Sloans Market, Glasgow

So I have a big day ahead of me tomorrow as i'm trying out a stall at Sloans Market in Glasgow for the first time, (eeekk)!! I'm really excited but a little anxious as really not sure how the day will go. I really do hope it's busy and the stall is a success so I can make it a regular thing.

I will be running the stall with my best mate Gillian and we will be selling a mixture of vintage clothing and accessories, past season clothing from the High Street and costume jewellery, so something for everyone!!

So, if you are shopping in Glasgow tomorrow, head along to Sloans Market which is located on the lane that runs between Buchanan Street and Argyll Street, right next to Zara on Buchanan Street. Hope to see you there!

A perfect Saturday

I had the best day today!
This morning I had my first consultation appointment with my florist for my wedding flowers. The flowers are all just stunning and it was so so hard to decide which ones to go for!

Afterwards I went for a yummy lunch then wandered around the vintage shops on Byres Road in Glasgow. Saw loads of cool things today but the one thing that really caught my eye was a vintage cream panama hat (If it was cheaper than £35 I would have got it)!....wedding to save for now and all that!

Today, I also came across a nice wedding accessory boutique called Melle Cloche. It was a small boutique packed with stunning wedding jewels, veils, shoes and underwear. I'll be popping back for another look soon!

A fun filled trip to London

My birthday trip to London last week was brilliant! I had 3 full days & 2 nights to shop & explore the wonders of London.

I took some snaps when I was out and about (pics are not great as was taken with my I-phone)!

Eating Out:

First stop - Cafe Rouge for a yummy breakfast

Guerilla Burgers - The best burger Joint (so good, we went twice!)

mmm, the best treat from my mum. Chocolate covered strawberries from Selfridges foodhall

Vintage Shopping:

I love anything from highstreet to designer to vintage and boy did I have the best time hunting through just some of London's many amazing vintage stores.

(I was so impressed to see the fashion wallpaper I have in my dressing closet in a vintage store. I love these bowler and top hat lights!!)

Notting Hill:

I love Notting Hill. It's such a cool place to wander around. I was dissapointed I missed the Portobello Road market though when I was there, I went on Thursday and it finished at 1pm so I missed it :-(
I love fashion magazines and need my monthly Vogue Fix. My mum was going into a small newsagents in Notting Hill to buy some sweets and when I wondered in behind her I couldn't believe my eyes................I have never seen as great a selection of fashion Magazines in the one place!! I ended up having to be guided out of the shop by my mum having stood in awe for ages gazing at all the magazines! I did get an Italian, Paris and Spanish Vogue though, all August issues which I will keep  to rememeber my 30th Birthday.

One of the most thoughtfull gifts I got for my birthday was a vintage Vogue magazine from the year I was born! My dad & my brother went away to hunt for this whilst me and my mum spent the day trying on wedding dresses! What a lovely and special gift that was!

Desginer & High Street boutiques:

Bond Street, what can I say. It's just magical! Being on 'wedding mode' I resisted the calls from the designer bags and shoes! I did treat myself to another Alexander McQueen skull scarf which is in a nice chocolate brown with sage green skulls so it's perfect for the winter months.

High Street - I got two cute dresses (one is an Aztec print mini dress that's patterend with nice chestnut brown, cream and black shades and the other is a body-con style dress in a vinrant mustard yellow!) & jewellery from the Forever 21 store on Oxford Street, this store was amazing. It was like Topshop & H&M rolled into one. If you have't already been in, then get in there now!

As well as my birthday gifts my brother had already got me (the stripe Bella Freud Jumper and Alexander McQueen ring) he treated me to a pair of gorgeous black lace-up ankle boots from Selfridges ..... I have the best brother :-)

Quirky London:

When you are wandering about London you see some wacky and wonderful things!

Selfridges & Co  - by far had the best window displays. Each theme was totally unique, fun, colourful and made you stop and stare.

Halcyon Gallery

Amazing tiny photographic images on the floor in Selfridges. These were made up from these quirky, retro looking Lomography cameras. The cameras were as light as a feather and available in all different fun designs (a great christmas idea).
Check out  their website:-

Bridal Boutiques:

Well, when I was in London I tried on some wedding dresses which was great fun!
After falling in love with a wedding dress on a website, when I tried it on I was told my face fell with dissapointment :-( Not to worry as after more searching, I found my dress!!!
I have to admit I was feeling pretty nervous about trying dresses on, but I had a lovely time with my mum that day. It just goes to show how you think you have found the perfect dress then when you put it on it can look totally different. I can only describe the feeling as feeling deflated when I put on what I thought was the perfect dress and looked in the mirror.

I decided I wanted to look for my dress in London as opposed to Glasgow as felt I would see something totally unique and different from here and I did just that! Now all I need is to find the perfect Louboutins to wear with the dress.
What's great is me and my best pal / Maid of Honor Gillian get to fly down to London again soon to shop for my shoes and all the bits and bobs, yippeeaa! Any excuse for a trip down to Bond Street!!

Cannot wait for my next shopping trip to London. Already have on my shopping list these gorgeous black Louboutin shoes I saw last week and some very special accessories from McQueen that I fell in love with! Perfect way to spend my birthday money :-)
